The Dream Super Eagles

Let's play pretend for a moment. Let's act like we don't know David Alaba chose Austria over the country of his birth and Bamidele Alli rocks the green white green on international breaks. How sweet that would be right?
Nigeria are called The Giants of Africa and truth be told, we haven't been giants of African football since 2013 when we triumphed at the CAF finals and right now, we're currently 63rd in Fifa world ranking and an astonishing 12th in Africa. At the Chan competition going on at Rwanda, the Home based Super Eagles team were surprisingly knocked out of the competition in the group stage.
On the international scene, Naija boys are doing it big. We've got World Class Nigerian born players but for some reason, they all choose to represent other countries, the reason for their choice is a discussion for another day. So let's go into Europe and pull out a few players that would have considerably improved The Super Eagles had they chose to play for the country of their birth rather than an adopted Nation.
David Alaba, 24years, 42 caps for Austria

He was obviously going to be my first choice. As a person, he's been described by former Bayern Manager Juup Heynckes as someone with poise and composure beyond his years, evident in the fact that he was the designated penalty taker during Bayern's historical treble winning season. David Alaba is an Austrian-Born Nigerian of Yoruba decent and has the same versatility that can be seen in Phillip Lahm. He's been a top player since his teenage years and has captained the Austrian National team since he turned 18. He was also his National team's top scorer in their successfully concluded Euro Qualifiers. David Alaba is not just a promising talent, he's a gem that's constantly being polished and has favoured playing in midfield over left back but I tell you this, we would love to have him. Anywhere!

Angelo Ogbonna, 27 years, 10 caps for Italy

This is one player whohas been on the periphery of many Nigerians. He moved to West Ham on a four year contract last summer after a host of scudetti triumphs with the Old lady. At 27 years of age, he's at that ripe football age but sadly that ripeness is felt only by the Italians. Italy is known for their defensive solidity and creating some of the greatest defenders ever, though he doesn't fall into that category, it would have been really nice to have someone with Italian defence training protecting the Super Eagle's Goalie.
Bamidele Alli, 20 years, 4 caps for England

Only last season he was a relative nobody. Representing Milton Keynes Dons until a Tottenham scout brought him from obscurity into the limelight and boy he acclimatised faster than anyone envisaged he would. He simply put has been a revelation. Scoring some amazing goals from midfield. What's most amazing about him is his Tenacity and Humility. He can play anywhere you put him. He's usually started at the base of midfield but you can bet he'll pop into spaces in the opposition's final third and has a keen eye for goal. When he's not scoring or assisting you can also see him going into tackles and he'll just be a dream for any coach to have. At just 19, his maturity is something special, he works hard for the team and contributes whenever and however he can. Whenever he pops in a goal like the one against Crystal Palace, I bet Nigerians everywhere fantasise about a world that would have been if he chose the Super Eagles over the Three Lions. We can only dream.

Jordon Femi Ibe, 20Yrs, No caps for England

By now I'm sure the Klopp fever has been cured, but we still have the Ibe flu in Nigeria. Though he's yet to represent England in any international fixture, he has openly proclaimed that he would indeed rather represent the three lions rather than the Super Eagles. We simply wish he chose the super eagles over the Three lions. Injuries to Adam Lallana and Victor Moses in the 2014/2015 season forced Brendan Rogers to give the talented a winger a chance and he took it well. The attacker who can also be deployed behind the striker even went on to keep Adam out of the squad and has retained his Senior squad status been after the introduction of Klopp. Jordan follows in the footsteps of Many Nigerian-English men to represent his adopted nation rather than his fatherland, but he should have learned from the next man. Watch out Femi.

Gabriel Agbonlahor, 28Years, 13 caps for England

This is another man who's Career would have taken a different path had he chose the Eagles. See, I'm a Nigerian, I'm superstitious and I just get the feeling that his time Aston Villa would have been different had he chose Nigeria. He's also represented his adopted nation England on all age categories on the international scene but hasn't in any recent time and to be honest, The super Eagles would have appreciated his talent more anyways.

We missed out on these players and if there are others worth mentioning. Please refer to them in the comment section.

So this could have been us but they chose Europe😥😢

We've got a couple of exciting players coming through in some top European clubs and some like Alex Iwobi, Kelechi Iheanacho and Chuba Akpom have been in the spotlight for all the right reasons. The future is bright for Nigerian football but it sure would have been brighter with Femi. Brymo know why he sing that song 😥
