Well I must say, I wasn't expecting the boss to start both signings, especially Lucas, whom I thought would be on the bench but he got the nod in the central striker role, with Alexis and Giroud on the bench. It's important to have quality and depth in the squad for the marathon season at hand, and from what I saw today, we are covered.
With Welbeck injured, olivier would have been our only out and out striker, so it was qite refreshing to see us coping and playing quite well without Giroud and Sanchez in the squad, same can be said about Mustafi, who came in and took over the role previously owned by Rob holding and from the way he played, he certainly should be holding on to that spot beside Koscielny. Speaking of kos, his overhead kick was beautifully but the captain gave us a late scare, we hope he's going to be fit for the Champions League fixture against PSG.
Mr. Wenger must be thanking his stars he has a few injuries to ''contend'' with because I'm sure every matchday would have been a selection headache he would hate to have(I obviously love it) but even as it is, Xhaka only had a place on the bench, Sanchez, Giroud and Iwobi didn't start and there's also the small issue of Ramsey when he returns to fitness, it's safe to say that if this squad stays away from more injuries, we'll have a massive squad that can compete on all fronts.
