When LVG was replaced by Mou, everyone at United expected the Portuguese would instantly return the club to it's past glory. With the amount of cash the Red Devils invested in the squad, a title charge should no doubt be the minimum expectation of this squad, though things aren't exactly looking that way now due to recent results, it is way too soon to write em off.
Lvg can be faulted for many things during his time at the Old Tradford outfit but his eye for spotting talent in young players cannot be faulted. During his time at the helm, Many a young players graduated into the senior team and therein lies the difference between the former and the incumbent. Mou generally doesn't place too much confidence in young players and just as expected, many of the players developed during LVG's tenure are gradually fading into oblivion.
With Manchester United participating in 4 tournaments this season, it is expected that these youngsters would get their chance at the team but currently only Marcus Rashford(who is and has been a game changer), Lingard and recently Fosu-Mensah. I intentionally left Anthony Martial and Luke Shaw because their transfer values qualify them as men and they aren't academy products.
The need for Mou to look into injecting youth into his side cannot be overemphasized, as only Yesterday, the introduction of Marcus completely turned the game on it's head, Fosu-mensah looked and played like an accomplished right-back and watching Rojo struggle made me wonder why Borthwick-Jackson isn't available. It is of course too soon to start panicking but as far as stats and contribution are concerned, though Zlatan won't agree, Rashford seems to be the better striking option and it is pertinent that he be given more responsibility and importance in the team, rather than being played out wide and be turned into the next Welbeck, just saying.
