When I first heard about pep's appointment at City, I was excited simply because i hoped he would come in and suffer. A few weeks down the road and I seem to be eating my words because he seems to be having a ball at the Etihad outfit. In such short time he has been able to induce his philosophy into his players, though in press conferences, he never fails to mention how the players are not there yet and how he expects more from them.
City, backed by their sugar daddy, have had a lot of capable for some time now, capable of winning the Premiere league twice in the modern era but have always wanted that top level coach that would take them to the next level and in Pep, they have that. A young, Dynamic manager who has an unhealthy obsession with Possession and more than anything else, loves winning and it's evident in the way City have played.
There's always been a feeling that the Sky blues have been playing below their potential, with the amount of investment made in the squad over the past five years, two premiere league and league cups isn't a bad return but the higer-ups have their mind set on winning something else, thus the importance of having Pep at their side. the catalan tactician won his two UCL trophies as coach of Barcelona, though he had them playing some exciting football, it's hard not to give more credit to Leo, Xavi, Iniesta, Puyol etc during his time at the Blaugrana, couple that with the fact that he couldn't reach such heights while coaching a Bayern team that was fresh off winning a historic treble and one could have a case against him going one better than he did with his Bayern team at city.
Only time will tell if he will be successful or not as the season isn't a sprint but a marathon but if he can keep his players fit and running the way they've been running things so far, I don't see why he can't do a ''Fergie'', I highly doubt that, however, what's certain is that Manchester City are scarier than they have ever been and it's barely been two months into his reign. The City is a dangerous place for small town boys like myself.
